EastFront, The DarkHorse

Well I've decided to get back into Blogging a bit more than usual. Coming up to Christmas time, there has been a lot on my plate. With EastFront's new Beta releases, I've been keeping busy. I've done a lot of small tweaking and some larger projects (like finishing the Mosin Nagant M91/30 model and Skinning + UV mapping the MP40 model). All this stuff has brought me to think more in the future of EF. I've been tentatively waiting for each server that goes up with the public beta of EastFront and I love to see so many clans enjoying the mod. I have been sort of watching the progress of other mods (like NoQuarter and TC:E) and gauging how well we are doing in comparison to their success. Even though we are only in the public beta stage, I am confident that EastFront will do well in the future, especially once a full version comes out and people can play with the mod to its fullest potential. Also with new additions to our team in both modeling and mapping we are becoming ever more closer to our goal on the Enemy Territory engine. Now we just need to finish skinning and animating most of the weapons and prepare for a full version. I leave you now with a picture of the Mosin Nagant at it's latest.

East Front Update

Well, it seems East Front is going to continue and with the Xreal engine this time. I hope this will be more successful than the Wolfenstein ET venture and I have a feeling it will. Our main coder, Raedwulf, is highly experienced with C code and knows quite a good amount of Q3 coding style so that is good since Xreal is a upgraded Q3 engine. We also get the graphics of the DOOM3 engine and several features that I personally are happy about. This includes Normal maps. I will have to learn how to make and use normal maps but it has already become an extremely fun time. So all this Xreal stuff has got me busy, especially since I'm gonna be the one remaking the player models. I have done a good job so far and I think I have completed the base Russian soldier model now. I will post it a bit later in this post for you to critique on. Well, Blender has been nice to me in the past weeks. I have now found some beautiful .MD3 export/import scripts that work with animations extremely well. But unfrotunately, this Xreal business has caused me to abandon all I know about .MD3 and move onto .MD5 which will be the format we'll use for EF on Xreal. There are some excellently made .MD5 export/import scripts that Der Ton has kept nicely updated with all this ETQW business. Well in the later of my week I have been pushed into learning how to skin by my fellow modeler, Anthex. He has pushed me to get Photoshop and to begin skinning my own models, partly because he hates my UV maps that I make because he can't tell what they are. So I've gotten my head around PS 7 and I think I'm maybe making some headway. I will not be a full-fledged skinn'in masta but I'll do my best to become the full package XD.
Here is the russian WIP player model, (I know he is kinda fat and I fixed that but I'm too lazy to post more pictures)

My First Blog Post

Well here it is, I have finally gotten a Blog to place all my 3D Modeling and other stuff in here for people to look at and critique. So maybe I shuld start off with a little about my position as of late. I'm a student in High School and I primarily do 3D modeling for various Development teams that make different games (FPS mostly). I also do it just for fun too ;). Right now East Front has been slowed down because of the lack of coders available to help us change the gameplay and other stuff. I have been working diligently on my PPS-43 reload for many weeks and this is what I got so far.
videoI know, pretty bad but its only "test version 1" so bear with me and this animation stuff is difficult to get really good. So that's about it for now but I'll post more later to keep you up to date on the situation. Alpha Red
